Staying with Jules was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, Jules greeted me with genuine warmth and charm that instantly made me feel at home. The house is beautiful and elegant yet relaxed, with breathtaking views of Table Mountain.

Every morning felt like a treat, and being a professional food writer, I can say, Jules cooking is absolutely amazing.  This place gives you peaceful surroundings, and thoughtful touches everywhere. It’s clear that Jules takes great pride in making sure every guest feels special.

If you’re coming to Cape Town, do yourself a favor and stay here. The MOLTENO  is more than accommodation. It’s something you’ll remember for a long time

Located in a nice, walkable neighborhood in Cape Town, it was the perfect base for exploring the city. Everything you need is close by in one of the safest parts of the city.

The house has a pool, which was really nice for cooling off after a day of sightseeing. I also loved the kitchen and patio for a morning coffee or an evening read and glass of Cabsav. You’ll find all the necessary amenities for your home outside of home here.

The host is genuinely nice and incredibly helpful. Having lived in the city for many years, he knows all the tips and tricks that will make your holiday feel much more local. And he can fix you a very tasty breakfast.

If you’re looking for a comfortable, well-located spot with a fantastic atmosphere and a truly exceptional host, this is the place!

I’ve spent over a month at THE MOLTENO and what can I say – it was simply wonderful. Julian is the kind of host who makes you feel at home from the very first day. He’s thoughtful, genuine, and always went out of his way to ensure my stay was perfect.I often worked remotely from the pool area, which was both peaceful and refreshing – it honestly beat any office I’ve ever had. And when evening came, there was nothing better than joining one of Julian’s braais. Great food, great conversation… Those nights were definitely a highlight. Staying here felt less like a rental and more like being invited into a friend’s space. I’ll look back on my time here with real fondness and will be returning. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I have recently visited Cape Town for the first time, while traveling on my own. From the coast to the mountains I was stunned by the beauty of the natural environment. I enjoyed amazing food and wine and met warm friendly people. What made my vacation so perfect was my stay at The Molteno. Although traveling alone, I never felt lonely there. The host Julian knows how to bring people together, make them feel at ease and entertain them. He helped me organize my days by providing itineraries and a fantastic guide/driver. Regardless of whether we stayed in, or went out, Julian made every evening fun. Never a bored moment. So whether you are traveling alone or not, my advice is to CHOOSE THE MOLTENO. I can’t wait to go back!

I arrived at The Molteno and was warmly welcomed by Julian and the other guests, instantly creating a true home-away-from-home feeling. I chose to celebrate my 40th birthday here, and it was truly beyond special. The atmosphere and energy in this house is quite remarkable and everything is done with passion and ease. What makes The Molteno exceptional is undoubtedly Julian. He cares for every guest while keeping everything effortlessly under control. The braais are well organised and delicious, and breakfast is always a highlight, prepared with flair and Julian’s charm. The immaculate cleanliness, ongoing improvements, and pride in the guesthouse are evident with every visit.

Thank you, Julian and team,  it was amazing once again!

This was our first time in Cape Town and Julian not only made us feel comfortable and at home at his guest house, but he also provided us with great recommendations about where to eat and things to do. You really feel like you are staying with a good friend at his very elegant house. He prepares incredible breakfasts based on what you would like. We would definitely stay there again the next time.

My partner and I spent a wonderful month at The Molteno House in Gardens, Cape Town. Julian was a fantastic host with great suggestions for both us (in our 50s) and our kids (in their 20s). Xena and Lili were just as welcoming, if less helpful with recommendations! We’ve stayed across Cape Town, from Clifton and Camps Bay to Constantia, but loved the Gardens location most, with its cool bars, great restaurants, and easy access to hiking trails and beaches just a short taxi away. We often walked through town to the Waterfront, too. The house is one of the oldest on the street, beautifully furnished with real quality, no plastic bed liners here. We made many friends and can’t wait to return.

The Molteno is much more than a guest house. It’s a home away from home.

The rooms are spacious, excellent furnished and spotless. But the best is the host. Jules is great at entertaining all in moderation. He has a great sense of humour and is always up for a good laugh. I love the plunge pool at cocktail hour. Jules is truly an amazing chef. I know you’ll enjoy your stay

Staying at The Molteno Guesthouse was an absolute delight! Jules is an incredible host, always ready with great tips, recommendations, and a welcoming smile. He cooks really well and very social with his guests. When he arrange a dinner, I suggest you accept this. It’s just Fabulous. The house itself is a beautiful blend of historic elegance
